Welcome to Hotta Lab!
Our research group has just established on March 2010 at Center for iPS Cell Research and Application (CiRA) in Kyoto University.
iPS cells have an enormous potential for future stem cell therapy, offering immunorejection-free transplantation without relying on donor supply, if the cells can be differentiated into functional tissues and organs. However, to conduct such stem cell therapy safely, we must overcome many issues such as reliable and reproducible isolation of clinical-grade iPS cell lines, and prevention of cancer (teratoma) due to contamination of undifferentiated cells after differentiation. Our research group focuses on novel iPS cell therapy using several gene delivery methods and transcriptional regulation technology.
