[Cencelled]CiRA Symposium for general public 2011 “Science is full of surprise! Challenge of scientists to cell reprogramming”
Center for iPS Cell Research and Application, Kyoto University will hold an international symposium intended as a public forum to inform general public about a history of cell reprogramming study, basics and potential of iPS cell and fascination of science.
The symposium is consists of two sessions. (Lecture session and Q&A session). In the first lecture session, three noted scientists in this field including renowned developmental biologist professor John Gurdon (University of Cambridge), professor Ian Wilmut, the leader of the team that cloned Dolly the sheep (University of Edinburgh, UK) and professor Shinya Yamanaka, the first scientist succeeded in generating induced pluripotent stem cells from human adult cells will give a lecture. In the second Q&A session, speakers will answer the questions from audiences. Videos of speaker’s lecture will be available on CiRA website (http://www.cira.kyoto-u.ac.jp/e/index.html) at a later day.
This symposium is being held with financial support from the FIRST program (Funding program for the World-Leading Innovative R&D on Science and Technology) established by the Japanese Cabinet Office.
