Procedures for acceptance of graduate students at CiRA

The Kyoto University Center for iPS cell Research and Application (CiRA) hosts graduate students (and undergraduates) enrolled in the Faculty of Medicine. For students who wish to apply to be accepted to a specific lab, they must first pass the entrance examination and be accepted into the School of Medicine, and then to join one of the research divisions within CiRA (Reprogramming Science, Cell Growth and Differentiation, Clinical Application).

The chair of the host department will serve as the graduate student supervisor, and the PI of the host lab as research mentor. Applicants who seek to complete a Master's or Ph. D. course at CiRA should make contact with the head of their laboratory of interest and confirm the suitability of their proposed field of study prior to applying to take the entrance examination for the relevant graduate department.

In addition, approval from the head of the research division is required prior to application.

Application process
(1) Select desired lab Application process
(2) Contact PI and inquire about posibility of being accepted as a student. Interview, if necessary.
(3) PI requests approval from department head.
(4) PI notifies applicant of result of request for approval.
(5) Prospective student applies to Kyoto University Graduate School of Medicine for entrance examination, and takes exam.
