The following answers are based on information available as of October, 2015.

Q

I would like to receive direct instruction in the iPS cell induction process. What should I do?

A

The relevant protocols can be viewed on the Research Activities pages of the CiRA website, and we also offer lectures and practical training. Information is posted ahead of time on the News page of our website.

Q

Do you offer guidance in the relevant legislative framework for people about to begin iPS cell research?

A

When gene-recombinant viruses or similar materials are used at the basic research stage, this constitutes experimentation with microorganisms and the so-called Cartagena Law therefore applies. Additionally, depending on the content of the experiments, the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare’s ethical guidelines may apply to research into human genome and gene analysis. For details, please contact the relevant government offices. As regulations adopted by the facility where your research is carried out may also be relevant, please make sure to check.
