The website of the Core Research for the Next-generation Medicine Utilizing Cell and Gene Therapy (NCGT: Next-generation Cell and Gene Therapy), a research project that started in 2023, has been launched.

The NCGT project, supported by the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development (AMED), is carried out by CiRA, Jichi Medical University, National Center for Child Health and Development, and CiRA Foundation.

Led by CiRA Director Jun Takahashi as the research representative, researchers from the four institutes will develop next-generation iPS cells, advance research and development in regenerative medicine, and function as a hub for regenerative cellular medicine and gene therapy research. They will also train young researchers.

AMED selected the NCGT project for its Acceleration Program of R&D and Implementation for Regenerative Medicine and Cell and Gene Therapy (the Core Center for Regenerative Medicine and Cell and Gene Therapy), which aims to implement regenerative cellular medicine and gene therapy as "Next-generation Medicine" in society.
