Effective September 1, Dr. Sayako Katada, formerly a Lecturer at the Graduate School of Medicine, Kyushu University, has been appointed as Associate Professor in the Department of Cell Growth and Differentiation.

Associate Professor Sayako Katada shared the following aspirations:

"The choroid plexus, which plays roles in brain development, homeostasis, and communication with the rest of the body, is a critical yet still poorly understood tissue. While my research thus far has focused on mouse models, moving forward, I aim to utilize iPS cells to deepen our understanding of the brain's fluidic environment and barrier functions, with the ultimate goal of applying these findings to disease treatment. I hope to make the most of this valuable opportunity at CiRA to advance fundamental research while paving the way for new therapeutic strategies for neurological disorders."
